Finding An Excellent Veterinarian

After my sweet little dog became ill, I knew that I needed a really wonderful veterinarian to make things right. I started looking around for a doctor who really understood what we were up against, and I was pleased to find a provider who accepted my insurance and actively worked hard to improve her patients care. It was really incredible to feel the difference that her efforts made, and I wanted to write a blog all about the benefits of working with a great veterinarian. Check out this blog for great information that could help you to protect your pets.

3 Important Reasons Why You Need To Neuter Your Pets.

Are you considering adopting a new dog or cat? Will this be the first time that you've owned a dog or a cat on your own? If you've never owned a pet before now, some of the things that a pet needs can seem silly or unreasonable at first. However, there are good reasons for doing each thing. One of the most important things that you can do for your new pet will be to get them spayed or neutered. While you might have some reasons for not spaying or neutering your pet, there are many more reasons why you should.

"My kids should get to see the miracle of birth." There are already way too many pregnant and newborn cats and dogs that need help. If you really want your children to have this experience, you can find many videos online of cats or dogs giving birth. Or you could volunteer to foster a pregnant cat or dog so that she will have a safe and welcoming environment in which to have kittens or puppies. In this way, your children will still be able to have the experience of seeing puppies or kittens being born and you can then adopt one or more. Just be sure to take them all to a spay and neuter clinic once they're old enough.

"Surgery hurts. Owners shouldn't hurt their pets." Not taking your pet to a spay or neuter clinic can actually hurt them more than the surgery. Female cats and dogs who go into heat are very uncomfortable. They will yowl and make noises, trying to get out so that they can find a mate. Male cats and dogs who smell a female in heat will try to do everything they can to get to that female, even if they previously showed no signs of wanting to get out. If they do manage to escape, they could get hit by cars, contract a serious disease, or never find their way home again. In contrast, your cat or dog should recover from his or her spay or neuter within a very short time and will forget that it even happened.

"Neutering is unnecessary because my dog or cat will never see an unspayed female." As previously mentioned, unneutered males will do their best to escape if they smell a female in heat anywhere nearby. But even if you do manage to keep your pet from getting out, there are other issues that you should know about. Unneutered males can become aggressive with little warning and will use urine to mark their territory in an attempt to attract a female. Their territory can include the inside of your home, so you should take your cat or dog to your local neuter clinic if you don't want to deal with the mess.
